How many challenges can one take before deciding to quit?

Why would anyone want to quit something they have been involved in and putting so much effort for in the past 2 years, just because they are afraid to face further challenges ahead of them. There's a limit to optimism -.- I realise I'm getting super cynical nowadays but some things are just too disappointing.

Just because they don't like their seniors, some people want to quit. Some people really have no guts. Once a quitter, always a quitter, and you're destined to fail. And some seniors even try and encourage these people to quit. How irresponsible. Instead of saying how bad your CCA is, why not think of who are the ones that make it bad, and whether such a mindset of yours would change anything for the better.

How do you respect an organisation which the members themselves hate?

To those who get in, do your best job and whatever you promised us, and don't disappoint the voters and those who didn't get in.
To those who didn't, don't be sad and continue doing your best for the school.

In or not, I will never regret joining the elections, as I really really enjoyed every single moment of the campaign, from going to school early for student lounge meetings, to putting up posters and talking to random people whom you've never talked to before, to staying back in school for long hours to discuss campaign ideas. The experience itself is the most valuable thing I could have gotten from the campaign, probably the first time I was so serious about something, the first time I think of ways I can contribute to the school, the first time I come up with a speech, and even the first time I create a facebook group.

Its been really great working with you people. Although we are a random bunch of people who might not have known each other well before the campaign. When people ask me about the party, they always ask the same question, "Why so random?". Despite the randomness, I feel that we have really done a great job in working with each other, even with all our differences.

Thanks for all the patience, thanks for all the encouragement, thanks for all the efforts you all have put in.

Let's hope tomorrow is a good day for all of us.

Last year, when I first stepped into the 3F classroom, I did not know anyone in the room. The only person that came to 3F from 2c was Peishan, who I hardly knew. Then, after flag raising, I saw this weird little quiet girl sitting beside called TERESA WONG. So i'm like "Wow how did I end up here? I should have appealed." One thing I only realised this year, however, was that being too lazy to go to school and appeal was one of the best things I did in my life.

Somehow I was very very NPCC-oriented last year and was totally unenthusiastic in any class activities. Not that i exactly hated the class, but that I did not know anyone well, nor did I even bother to. The first person i really talked to in class was Justin, my first (official) table partner, who made me really want to get to know more people. First class gathering during New Year made me feel for the first time that it was like a class, the invisible 'walls' in between us were non-existant for that period of time when we sat down as a class eating and having fun.

The good thing about last year, like was Junjie (or was it someone else ._.) said, was that there was much less stress over EOYs, which basically meant more fun, more friendliness, less emoness and less stressed emo punks. That allowed the people in class to have many chances to get to know each other better and become good friends. However, I did not make use of that chance to get to know my classmates better, instead sticking with the NP people.

Charlene was my longest table partner, and the one that I talked most to. Thanks to her, I was able to really open up to the other classmates, and get to know them better. Then Year 4 came, and after certain events, I became much less enthusiastic in NPCC, and also began to see how fun sticking with the class can be. 2009 is a very memorable year for me, becuase it was the year where I felt that I belonged in a class.

During interclass this year, although I didnt exactly participate, I was there to cheer for them, and we were really cheering as a class. Winning wasn't everything, what we gained most was the sense of belonging, and the bond that was forged through all the cheering, the congratulating, and the emoing that we did as a class.

To end it, I want to thank everyone from 4f who made my year4 life such a memorable one, I learnt alot from them, and I feel that I really changed alot since year2, either negatively or positively. Without 4f, it wouldn't be possible. I will never get to know what I will turn out to be like if I had appealed and went to 4e. However, I believe that I did not make the wrong choice, and thankfully, for one of the very few times in my life, I had made a wonderful choice.

Mr Kiw says we should strive for stuff like scholarships, and aims for those kind of jobs like government like that. Personally I feel that I am not interested in this kind of life -.- these people work a 7 day week, how much time do they actually have for themselves and their family and their close ones? Life's not just about earning money and being some successful bigwigs. I shall get a job that allows me to have fun and enjoy :D I mean whats the point of doing something you dont like and be unhappy just for the cash -.-

WASHINGTON (AFP) - - They may have lost fingers, or perhaps even an arm or leg, but these former surfers and vacationers paced down the halls of Congress in Washington to seek protection for sharks, their very attackers.

"I'm here to lobby for the bill to save the sharks, I lost my arm. It's a very powerful statement," said Al Brenneca, a 52-year-old who was attacked by a shark in 1976 in Florida.

Along with a group of eight other survivors brought together by the Pew Environment Group research center, Brenneca descended on Capitol Hill to lobby senators to pass a measure placing tough restrictions on shark fishing.

More than a third of all shark species are endangered, in part due to finning, a practice in which a shark's fins are cut off before the body is thrown back into the water. Shark fin soup is a beloved delicacy in Asia, where it is in high demand.

Some 70 million sharks die in the ocean each year. In contrast, shark attacks on humans are rare -- between 60 and 100 per year worldwide.

"You might ask why considering I was attacked by a shark, why don't I want eat the sharks or kill them all?" quipped Krishna Thompson, a 44-year-old New York banker whose spectacular attack by a bull shark in 2001 during his 10-year wedding anniversary in the Bahamas had captured the media's attention.

Fighting back with his bare hands, he finally freed himself from the steel-sharp jaws.

"I had the leg but all I could see was the femur and tibia, no skin, no vein, no muscle and I remember seeing the white bones. And I thought, 'Oh man, I'm going to be amputated,'" he recalled.

Now wearing an artificial limb and a T-shirt declaring his determination to defend the shark, Thompson has converted himself into an activist fighting for the survival of the predators.

"What the shark did to me was what they are supposed to do," he insists. "Sharks have been around for 300 millions years -- before dinosaurs. They haven't changed much from then till now.

He added that people should not mess with mother nature, and let the sharks be.

"I don't want find out what life would be for us as human if they ceased to exist," Thompson stressed. "If we killed all the sharks that will have an effect on us as humans. That's why I'm here."

Wednesday's demonstration in the Halls of Congress was unusual and startling even for veteran lawmakers who have seem many expressions of public sentiment.

All described scenes of carnage at sea when the were forced to swim in their own blood to save their lives. Most have suffered cardiac arrest by the time they arrived to the hospital.

Mike Coots, 30, from Hawaii was attacked by a tiger shark in 1997 when he was surfing in the morning.

The predator grabbed him by the right leg, shook him back and forth while he was trying to fight back the attacker by punching it on the head.

The shark released him went back into the deep water while Mike started paddling toward the shore. But his leg was gone.

"I didn't feel it come off," he recalls. "It was gone. My friend took my surfing leash and made a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Yeah. He saved my life."

But Coots believes that he may have been bitten by a shark to help protect the species.

"I feel very strongly that these animals have a place in the world," he insisted. "And without them, I think it's going to disrupt the entire ecosystem."

But not everybody get over such life experiences. Brenneca, who lost his arm to a shark more than 30 years ago, says many people still harbor resentment toward these predators.

"Some people can't get over their bite and stuff," he notes. "Some people still have an anger towards things whether it be sharks or their own stupidity. It takes years to really get over a bite like this, a serious bite where you lose your arm or you lose your leg. It takes a while to get over that."

Just so I remember (:

School is getting boring but seems like I really need to buck up, especially that EOYs are coming in 11 weeks wow. Integration was a flop, I lost more than 12 marks. So to get my target GPA, I really need to start getting out of the holiday mood.

Tomorrow's dismissal is at 1045 which is like really great since we already had so many disppointments this year. Looking forward to December holidays, lots I plan to do.

I shall seriously consider dropping physics next year since it's not for me. And I shall go get a job that does not require much brains and education hooray.
